A five-seat Lexus SUV hit the street barrier and plowed into an alley, crashing into seven motorbikes in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 on Tuesday.

The incident took place at 11:30 a.m. when the driver, who is reportedly in his 50s, was driving on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in the direction from District 1 to Binh Thanh District.

When approaching Saigon Zoo, the vehicle plowed through the barriers into an alley that lies around 50 meters across the street, crashing into trees and seven motorbikes parked there.

The crash caused no fatalities or injuries. The driver appeared to be sober.

"Many people had run away just in time," Nguyen Huong Lan, a woman living in the alley, said.

Police are working on the case.
