A man from New Zealand in HCMC was forced to repaint a house after vandalism.

Police from downtown Ben Thanh Ward in District 1 fined the 28-year-old foreigner VND1.5 million ($59.03) for painting walls in public places without authorities' approval.

Earlier in the morning, security were patrolling Nguyen Du Street when they spotted the vandalism on the roller door of a family home. He admitted that he painted for fun, and knew what he did was a violation. He has since apologized to the family.

Following a fine, the man was forced to repaint the roller door.
