A committee for evidence disposal, composed of several police, prosecution, health and finance department personnel of HCMC, on Thursday monitored the disposal process of the seized drugs at a location in Binh Chanh District.
They verified that the drugs had indeed been incinerated.
The HCMC Department of Civil Judgement Enforcement said there was too much evidence seized during drug busts, meaning they could be always be disposed of in conventional ways.
The department has therefore proposed incineration as a method for disposal, which renders the drug unusable and protects the environment at the same time.
The amount of drugs disposed of on Thursday was the largest ever to be destroyed in the city.
In March last year, HCMC disposed of 310 kg of seized drugs through incineration for the first time.
