Vietnam gold prices rose to new record highs on Thursday morning as global bullion rates climbed.

Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar price rose 1.96% to an all-time high of VND103.9 million (US$4,023.24) per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Gold ring price surged by 1.57% to VND103.3 million per tael, also a new peak.

Globally, spot gold on Thursday extended its climb and was last up 0.5% at $3,097.52 an ounce, Reuters reported.

The precious metal previously rallied on Wednesday in a broad-based commodities and equity market rebound after U.S. President Donald Trump said he would temporarily lower recently enacted tariffs on dozens of countries while further increasing duties on China.

Gold climbed more than 3% on Wednesday in its best day since October 2023, supported by safe-haven inflows amid escalating U.S.-China trade tensions.
