Melanie Kamayou, wife of Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, was left devastated after her £62,000 (US$80,000) Hermes Birkin handbag and Rolex watch were stolen, forcing her to cancel a business trip to Cameroon.

The robbery took place outside an Italian restaurant, and a source close to Kamayou described her as deeply devastated by the incident. She had been scheduled to fly to Cameroon the following day to manage her business, but the theft forced her to cancel the trip on March 29, The Sun reported.

The suspect, Liam Ross, 25, of Bradford, has been charged with high-value robbery and appeared in Chester Magistrates' Court last week. He also faces a charge of supplying cannabis and will return to Chester Crown Court in May.

Kamayou, a social media influencer with over 72,000 followers on Instagram, went public with her relationship with Onana in 2019. Known for posting pictures featuring luxury items, she holds a PhD in Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and co-chairs the Andre Onana Foundation, a charity supporting children.

In 2021, Kamayou and Onana faced a challenging period when the goalkeeper was banned for a year by UEFA for testing positive for doping. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his ban to nine months after he claimed he accidentally took his pregnant wife's medication instead of his headache pills.

The couple married in 2023 and have a son. They reside in Alderley Edge, a neighborhood popular with Premier League stars.

Onana, 29, is a Cameroonian goalkeeper who previously played for Barcelona's youth team and Inter Milan before joining Manchester United in 2023. Currently, United are struggling in the lower half of the Premier League table.
