Hanoi has spent $3 million buying ideas from a foreign unit to develop the capital, the city’s chairman Tran Sy Thanh said Friday.

In a discussion with citizens of Soc Son and Me Linh districts, Thanh and National Assembly delegates said the city is creating urban planning schemes for the capital for the 2021-2030 period, with vision until 2050, adding that the city has secured an aid package worth $3 million to buy development ideas from a top consultant company that understands Vietnam.

Thanh however did not specify which company it was, or what the ideas were exactly.

Hanoi has also been collecting ideas from people in Vietnam and organized several conferences to complete the urban planning scheme, Thanh said.

Previously on Oct. 31, Thanh helmed a meeting for the results of a two-month study on groundbreaking ideas for the development of Hanoi. Units provided several ideas for the capital, including its culture; a green and sustainable city; a digital economy; and modern transport infrastructure.

Thanh said Hanoi is expected to gain around VND400 trillion ($16.46 billion) to its budget this year.
