Four workers were killed when a coal pit at Vang Danh Coal Company in the northern province of Quang Ninh, Vietnam's biggest coal producer, collapsed on Saturday.

Around 7:20 p.m., the coal pit at a mine of the company, a unit of Vietnam's state coal miner Vinacomin, suddenly collapsed.

An hour later, the bodies of Luong Hoai Nam, 30, Truong Van Dai, 33, Nguyen Duc Thao, 34, and Pham Tien Dung, 36, were recovered.

The cause was due to an underground water area ruptured, leading to the collapse.

Police are investigating the accident.

In March, a similar accident happened at Vanh Danh Company. After 12 hours of being stuck, two workers were rescued.
