The fire started at around 2 a.m. in their 120-sq-m house in An Khanh Commune, Hoai Duc District.
The house, also used as a shop by the couple to sell bicycles and electric motorbikes, has only one entry with a rolling door, which possibly made it hard for the occupants to escape.
Eight fire trucks with 50 men were dispatched to the scene and it took them nearly one hour to put out the fire.
Unfortunately, the firefighters could not save the 38-year-old man, his 33-year-old wife and their son.
Many bicycles and electric motorbikes in the store were also destroyed.
The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
