Hanoi and other northern localities might see temperature rising to 34 degrees Celsius this week as a warm air zone expands.

Hanoi saw its temperature rise to 30 degrees on Sunday as a western heat region expanded to the east.

The heat will intensify starting Monday in northern Vietnam with temperatures as high as 35 degress in Son La and Hoa Binh Provinces.

Four other localities – Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai and Yen Bai – will enjoy sunny weather starting from Tuesday.

The U.S.-based weather forecast platform Accuweather said that Hanoi's temperature would fall in the range of 25-29 degrees and gradually increase to 34 degrees on Saturday.

Mountainous area such as Sa Pa will be in the 16-30-degree range.

Vietnam's central region will have more sunshine starting Monday with temperatures of 31-35 degrees.

From Tuesday provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen could see temperatures reach as high as 38 degrees.

Central Highlands and southern regions expect rain on Monday afternoon and evening.

The Central Highlands will see temperatures of 31-34 degrees and southern region 33-36 degrees this week.

By next month the northern and Central Highlands regions could see temperatures 0.5-1.5 degrees higher than the average in recent years.
