Deputy PM Tran Luu Quang on Monday visited victims of gun attacks that killed two commune leaders and four police officers in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

A delegation led by Quang visited the families of Nguyen Van Kien, the late Party secretary of Ea Ktur Commune, and Nguyen Van Dung, the late chairman of Ea Tieu Commune. They were killed on the way to the communes' People's Committee offices after hearing the offices were attacked on Sunday morning.

The Deputy PM also visted families of four police officers killed in the attacks and two police officers who were injured and are being treated at the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital.

On early Sunday morning, a group of armed persons attacked the People's Committee offices of the Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur Communes in Cu Kuin District, killing four police officers, two commune leaders, and three civilians.

Authorities said 27 suspects had been arrested for involvement in the attacks and a number of weapons seized as of Monday noon.

The government will pay the families of four police officers killed in the attack compensation of VND100 million (US$4,260) each.

The two injured policemen will receive VND50 million each.
