Child attacked by rabid pit bull in Hanoi

The dog bit her in the face and dragged her along several houses along the alley.

She was rescued by other neighbors and her family rushed her to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the hospital said Monday.

It quoted her family as saying she had been playing with another child near their house in Me Linh District when the pit bull rushed out and attacked both of them.

People in the neighborhood beat the dog to death after the girl suffered injuries to her face.

Tests on the dog's body showed it had rabies.

Dr Tran Quang Dai at the hospital said the girl is in stable condition and "safe" since she received rabies vaccine and wound healing serum within 24 hours of being bitten.
