The index closed 18.40 points higher after dropping 0.36 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 45% to VND24.069 trillion (US$961.8 billion).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 29 tickers gained.
CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank went up 6.5%, VJC of carrier VietJet Air closed 5.9% higher, TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank grew by 5.1%.
Only one blue chip fell, which was MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World, down 0.6%.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND727 billion, mainly selling ACB of Asia Commercial Bank and VHM of property developer Vinhomes.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.95%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.32%.
