My husband refuses to increase income, says he's not destined for wealth

My husband dismisses my suggestions to find ways to increase our earnings, arguing that everyone has their own fate, and getting rich isn’t part of his.

Both my husband and I are 35 years old, and we have two children, aged seven and 10. I work as a consultant for an electronics company, while my husband works in construction, with our total monthly income ranging from VND27-30 million (US$1,082-$1,203). I feel this isn’t enough, so I’ve been considering ways to boost our income and encouraging my husband to do the same. However, he believes we already have enough and that trying harder won’t change our fate.

Despite my husband’s reluctance to seek improvement, I still find a sense of peace and comfort by his side. He always takes good care of our family and steers clear of bad habits. Whenever he has free time, instead of going out to drink or socialize, he chooses to stay home with us.

Additionally, there was a time when my mother-in-law and I consulted fortune tellers at two different places, and both said our family may never be wealthy but would always enjoy peace, with obedient and healthy children, and long-lived elders—a blessing in itself.

Despite this, I can’t help but feel uncertain about our future. Should I persist in convincing him to increase our income or accept the life we currently have?
