The second International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Networks (ICSN) was hosted by Swinburne Vietnam on March 19 with the message: "People and technology working together for a better world."

ICISN 2022 received nearly 200 research projects from more than 10 countries: China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

ICISN is an annual conference for domestic and international experts and scientists to exchange ideas, evaluate research and seek future collaborations in the fields of electronics, communication and technology.

The presentations and workshops at ICISN 2022 were the essence of scholars and industry experts' innovative research in the fields of software engineering and software development methodology, computational information smart, mobile and wireless networks, signal processing, electronic and IoT applications, automation systems, image and video processing, and intelligent measurement control technology.

Out of nearly 200 submissions, 75 works that were approved by the Review Board to be presented at ICISN 2022 met high standards of innovation and academic robustness, along with having less than 15 percent of similarities and overlaps with other works. Approved studies and conference proceedings will be published in the Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems by the prestigious publisher, Springer.

Research topics were diverse, aiming to solve practical problems of business and society, including: Control design of thermoacoustic generator systems using reinforcement learning algorithms, Developing economical and effective ultraviolet (UVC) irradiation solutions and equipment for rapid disinfection of SARS-CoV-2 on N95 respirators; A new system for license plate recognition in traffic violation scenarios in Vietnam; Heart disease prediction using soft computing methods; Implementation of SMOTE and VGG-16 for Covid-19 radiography.

This year, ICISN welcomed renowned scholars with global recognition. Notable keynote speakers and delegates include Dr. Chutiporn Anutariya from the Asian Institute of Technology Thailand (AIT); Dr. Rafidah Md Noor, deputy dean at the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Malaya; Professor Lam Kwok Yan, professor of Computer Science at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Corporations joins hands for tech solutions

Offering a unique opportunity for scholars and industry experts to come together and collaborate for the common good, ICISN 2022 received attention and contributions from leaders of big tech companies.

Amid the fourth industrial revolution, academics and businesses see the great demand for timely and innovative solutions to help society adapt with the rapid technological change happening all around the world.

Some of the highlights at ICISN 2022 were the remarks from FPT Group's President, Dr. Truong Gia Binh, and Tran The Trung, director of FPT Smart Cloud. As a pioneer in technology research and application in Vietnam, FPT's participation was highly anticipated to bring in meaningful insights from a market perspective in the field of networks and intelligent systems.

"VinBrain is in the process of creating a unique, long-term health ecosystem capable of giving early validation within a near-real-time feedback loop through big data's power and AI assistants, like AIviCare™, AI for telehealth and DrAid™," Hung shared.

In the IoT era, Artificial intelligence (AI) is seen as both an opportunity and challenge for businesses. Digital Health with the power of AI and democratizing AI in the modern world was the focus of the keynote presentation given by Truong Quoc Hung - CEO of VinBrain. The presentation demonstrated how AI and big data applications are becoming an essential practice for businesses who want to seize opportunities amid fast-changing digital transformation.

Dr. Le Nhan Tam, chief technology officer of IBM Vietnam, also gave a plenary talk about AI Data Lake - Redefining the traditional data lake.

Digital transformation has led to a significant increase in information traffic as cloud adoption grows, hence, streaming data is gaining significant popularity. Accordingly, data lake is a technology platform and supporting architecture for fast data collection with a natural storage model for complex multi-structured data, which provides cost-effective storage for large data sets and AI-powered data analysis.
