According to a press release from the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) on Monday, Henry fell through an opening on the stage during the preliminary evening gown segment on Nov. 19, resulting in "an intracranial hemorrhage with loss of consciousness, a fracture, facial lacerations, and other significant injuries."
She was immediately admitted to intensive care in Bangkok, where she remained in critical condition under continuous neurological monitoring and 24-hour specialist supervision.
The MUO announced that Henry will return to Jamaica in the coming days, accompanied by a full medical team, and will be transferred directly to a hospital for ongoing treatment and recovery.
Since the incident, the organization has covered all hospital, medical, and rehabilitation expenses, as well as her mother and sister’s accommodation and living costs in Thailand, it stated. The MUO also confirmed it is funding the medically escorted repatriation flight and will cover all future medical expenses related to the fall.
"The Henry family is deeply grateful to the Miss Universe Organization for their unwavering compassion, presence, and love shown," the statement read.
The organization also dismissed media reports suggesting Henry bore any responsibility for the fall, calling such claims "entirely inaccurate."
Miss Universe co-owner Raul Rocha echoed the organization’s statement on Instagram, writing: "Thank God our Miss Universe Jamaica is preparing to return home. To all those who were concerned about her health, thank you so much for supporting us with your prayer chains."
Henry, 28, was confirmed to have avoided life-threatening injuries and did not break any bones following the fall.
However, some contestants, including Miss Universe Haiti Melissa Sapini, criticized how the incident was initially handled. Sapini told People magazine that pageant staff suggested Henry was at fault.
"The first thing [the pageant staff member] said was it’s because she wasn’t paying attention," she recalled. "After he said that, then he was like, ‘Of course, safety is our number one priority,’ this, that. But it’s like, ‘Are you serious?’ That was really scary."
The Miss Universe 2025 final took place on Nov. 21, with the crown going to Mexico’s Fatima Bosch. Representatives from Thailand, Venezuela, the Philippines, and Ivory Coast filled the first, second, third, and fourth runner-up positions respectively.
