The life of Angelica Poquiz Yulo, mother of Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo, is set to be turned into a film, with a “rich businessman” backing the project, according to entertainment reporter Ogie Diaz.

The Filipino Times reported that in a recent episode of his show, Diaz revealed that the working title is "The Angelica Yulo Life Story." The "rich businessman" sponsor, who wished to remain anonymous, even accompanied Angelica and her family on their trip to Singapore earlier this month and treated them there.

While the exact details of the film’s production are still unfolding, Diaz confirmed that the project is expected to delve into Angelica’s experiences, hinting that it will touch on some of the more personal aspects of her life, including the feud between her and Carlos.

The family dispute began when Carlos posted a TikTok video on Aug. 6, accusing his mother of mishandling his finances, misleading him about gymnastics incentives, and wrongly accusing his girlfriend, content creator Chloe San Jose, of financial exploitation.

In response, Angelica held a press conference the next day, expressing her regret and explaining her actions as motivated by concerns for her children’s financial future.

"The money was given to me," she said at the press conference, as reported by The New York Post. "As a mother, I was worried that my child might have financial problems in the future. So I invested it under my name."

Filipino businessman Chavit Singson has pledged 5 million pesos (US$85,131) to Carlos and his family if he and his mother reconcile.

Carlos, 24, is celebrated as the most decorated Filipino gymnast in history, according to Forbes. He became the first Filipino athlete to win two gold medals at a single Olympics, achieving this feat in the floor exercise and vault events at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The Yulo family has established itself as a powerhouse in gymnastics, with Carlos’ younger brother Eldrew winning four gold medals at the 3rd JRC Artistic Gymnastics Stars Championships in Thailand in early November. Eldrew triumphed in the junior individual all-around, floor exercise, still rings, and vault categories, while also earning two silver medals in the parallel bars and team all-around events.
