‘Myanmar’s hottest monk’ Paing Takhon engaged to oil tycoon’s daughter

According to Sinchew, Linn, 29, lives in Yangon and is the daughter of oil tycoon San Linn, chairman of the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association.

Paing revealed his relationship with Linn in August 2024 and announced their engagement in January. The news sparked mixed reactions, with some fans expressing heartbreak and others offering congratulations, saying "My charming prince, you deserve happiness."

In 2021, Paing was called "Myanmar’s hottest monk" after images of him in monk robes, showcasing his clean-shaven look and muscular physique, went viral.

The Straits Times reported he had entered a monastery for 10 days, a common practice for men in Myanmar.

That same year, he was arrested for protesting against Myanmar’s military junta and sentenced to three years in prison. He was released a year later after receiving a state pardon, according to 8days.

Paing began his career as a model in 2014 and later became a brand ambassador for Oppo and Sunkist. He made his acting debut in 2017 as the lead in the Myanmar film "Midnight Traveler."

In 2019, he was named one of "Myanmar’s Top 10 Actors" by The Myanmar Times and topped TC Candler’s "Most Handsome Faces" list in 2021.
