According to The Star, Au discussed her financial difficulties during an interview with HK01.

"I really need money now," she declared.

The actress disclosed that she had not worked or earned any income for many years, as her last on-screen appearance was in 2005, after which she chose to focus on her family and pursue a master’s degree in nutrition.

"I didn’t even keep up with the news that much," she remarked. "It’s like I’ve returned to Earth from Mars, so I need to learn how to make money."

Au shared that her biggest expense at the moment is rent. She expressed being overwhelmed by the process of searching for a rental property, a task she faced alone for the first time. She also shared her interest in buying a house, yet noting that she would need to save money first.

Au, 45, and Kwok, 60, announced their divorce in May after marrying in 2006 following a seven-year relationship.

According to Dimsum Daily, Au opted out of including her name on any of Kwok’s assets, reportedly valued at HK$90 million (US$11.5 million) in total, aiming to sidestep complications and avoid any unnecessary trouble.

Kwok, a celebrated actor with TVB, is known for his roles in "Lin Shing Kuet" and "Black Heart White Soul." He is distinguished as one of the few actors to win the Best Actor award at the TVB Anniversary Awards three times.

Au began her career as a singer before transitioning to acting, gaining recognition for her role in "Journey to the West II."
