Vietnamese singer Jack and rapper Binz have been nominated for this year’s MTV European Music Awards and Asian Television Awards.

The two were nominated after receiving the most fan votes in a poll, MTV Vietnam announced Wednesday.

Jack, real name Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan, will go up against artists from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines in the "Best Southeast Asia Act" category.

The 23-year-old from southern Ben Tre Province was a music teacher before turning professional and churning out hits like "Hong Nhan" (Beauty) and "Song Gio" (Ups And Downs).

The award will be based on fan votes. The votes can be cast until 5:59 a.m. on November 3 (Vietnamese time) on the event site. An online awards ceremony will be shown globally on MTV channels on November 8.

Jack's "Hoa Hai Duong" (Camellia) and rapper Binz's "Bigcityboi" have been nominated for Best Music Video at the 2020 Asian Television Awards.

Artists from Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Qatar, New Zealand, and others are also in the reckoning.

The jury will pick the winner, and the awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on January 16-17 next year in Cambodia.

"Hoa Hai Duong" and "Bigcityboi" have garnered 61 million and 57 million YouTube views as of Thursday.

Binz, real name Le Nguyen Trung Dan, was recently praised for "Bigcityboi" by U.S. entertainment website Billboard, which said the 32-year-old had reached "new heights" with the video.

The MTV EMA Awards celebrate the best music of the year and the biggest artists in the world. They began in 1994 and are held in a different country every year.

ATA, which this year has a jury of over 60 drawn from across the region, was launched in 1996.
