Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's busiest airport, ranked 44th on a list of the world's 70 best airports, according to a survey conducted by British newspaper The Telegraph.

The 50 busiest airports globally in 2023 based on total passenger numbers were surveyed along with the 20 busiest in Europe.

For the rankings over 30 criteria were considered ranging from connectivity, reliability and practicality to passenger experience such as Wi-Fi speed, quality of restaurants and lounges, availability of outdoor terraces, rest zones, drinking water fountains, and mobile phone charging points.

Tan Son Nhat was praised for its practicality that considers its proximity to the city center, the number and quality of hotels within a two-mile radius, and the availability of features like facial recognition technology, luggage storage, and free mobile charging stations.

Since 2017, Tan Son Nhat has been handling 36 million passengers annually, averaging nearly 100,000 passengers daily, well beyond its designed capacity of 25 million per year.

To address this, the airport has recently upgraded its terminals and installed additional screening equipment.

Singapore's Changi Airport topped the list as the world's best, followed by Qatar's Hamad International Airport, Dubai International Airport, and Seoul Incheon International Airport.

Airports in Asia and the Middle East dominated the rankings, securing the top five positions. The top 10 also included three airports in North America and two in Europe.
