High school teacher cuts student's hair off for dyeing it

Nguyen Van Huyen, director of the Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training, on Wednesday said the incident happened at the Doi Can High School in Vinh Tuong District. The 10th grader dyed part of her hair, which the school does not allow.

"Her family asked her to dye her hair back to black, and she also asked her friends to cut off the dyed golden parts, but some still remained," Huyen said. "That's why the teacher cut her hair."

In a video that circulated on social media, the teacher said: "I would not cut this beautifully; I would cut this into a mess, so you would understand.

"I reminded you before, and you said you would dye your hair back, but [the colored parts] remain."

The student remained silent as the teacher cut her hair, while her classmates looked shocked and in disbelief seeing the scene play out.

Pham Khuong Duy, deputy director of the Vinh Phuc Education Department, said the department met with the teacher on Thursday morning and she admitted to have acted "wrongly" and "angrily."

She came to the girl's house earlier to apologize to her while the student also apologized for violating the school's regulations, Duy said.
