Monsoon Music Festival back after 3-year break

During a press conference Tuesday, musician Quoc Trung, the festival founder, said: "Monsoon Music Festival will keep inspiring [music lovers] and expanding starting from this year."

Festival organizers said for the first time in history the festival would last for 10 days, with a total of attending and performing in over 70 sessions.

This year’s theme will be Hang Nhac Street, translated as "the street of music," inspired by the way in which streets in Hanoi’s old quarter were named.

"We will bring music to every corner of the Hanoian streets to serve the community. This year’s Monsoon Music Festival will introduce various performance formats, and the attendees can move from location to location to experience and enjoy the performances," Trung said.

"Starting from this year, Monsoon Music Festival will let Vietnamese and international young music bands to register for performances on stages, the festival organizers said.

"By doing so, we aim to introduce various artists and music projects to public, and contribute to boost the levels of musical ability and creativity in the Vietnamese music industry."

In addition to the performances, this year’s festival will also organize various seminars discussing the future of the music and cultural industries in Vietnam.

The Monsoon Music Festival is an international music started in Hanoi in 2014.

The festival has attracted around 225,000 domestic and foreign attendees, through performances by over 300 Vietnamese and international artists, including the German rock band Scorpions, the Irish rock band Kodaline, the Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies and the South Korean indie band Hyukoh.
