63 more people in vehicle registration centers and vehicle renovation businesses have been arrested over allegations regarding registration violations.

The police of HCMC on Sunday said these people are being investigated for giving, receiving and brokering bribes, as well as creating and using fake documents and seals.

Since an investigation has been launched in December 2022 regarding vehicle registration violations nationwide, 318 people have been arrested over numerous charges, including power abuse, corruption and property appropriation. By the end of 2023, police forces of 49 localities have launched investigations into 114 criminal cases, with over 800 suspects.

Two former heads of the Vietnam Register, Tran Ky Hinh and Dang Viet Ha, are being investigated for receiving bribes.

By August last year, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Registered had expelled 47 people out of the Party and suspended activities for 24 Party members who had made violations in vehicle registration.

The Vietnam Registration, under the Ministry of Transport, is in charge of registering vehicles used for inland, railway and waterway transportation. It is also responsible for evaluating safety criteria of vehicles.
