The death was announced by the Royal Hashemite Court on its website on Sunday, with People Magazine covering the report.
"The Royal Hashemite Court mourns the loss of Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif, father to Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, and prays for his soul to find peace," the court's statement expressed.
King Abdullah of Jordan has also decreed a three-day mourning period starting Sunday, as announced by the court.
Crown Prince Hussein shared his grief over the loss of his father-in-law on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of them embracing.
"With profound sadness and sorrow, we bid farewell to my beloved father-in-law," he wrote.
"His kindness, generosity, and integrity will forever be remembered," he continued. "May God have mercy on him and give us the strength and patience to endure."
Khaled, an alumnus of the American University of Beirut, held a degree in Civil Engineering, as noted by the Daily Mail. He established El Seif Engineering Contracting, a fact highlighted in a press release at the time of Princess Rajwa and Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding, reported by Hola! Magazine.
The engagement of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa took place in Aug. 2022 at the Al Saif residence in Riyadh, leading to their wedding in June the following year. Their wedding ceremony, a traditional Islamic rite at Zahran Palace, saw the attendance of numerous global dignitaries, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, who were the Crown Prince and Crown Princess at the time.
