AsiaOne reported that clips shared on the show’s official account on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, on Wednesday show Choi, along with Hong Kong singer-actress Gillian Chung and diva Joey Yung, visiting Singapore’s specialty café 99 Old Trees Durian. They were introduced to various types of durians, including S17, Red Prawn, Jin Feng, D13, Black Pearl, and Mao Shan Wang.
Yung was visibly excited about the selection, exclaiming: "To be able to try out so many durians today, what good deeds have I done in my past life?"
She then encouraged Choi to try a piece of Mao Shan Wang. Choi hesitantly picked up a piece, tasted it, and immediately displayed a displeased expression. Unable to swallow the fruit, she eventually spat it out.
In the comments section below the clip, many netizens shared experiences similar to Choi’s when they or their family members tasted durian for the first time. Others expressed the opinion that durian is actually delicious.
"My daughter also spat durian out when she tried it," read one comment.
"They [durians] are delicious," said another.
Choi, 42, began her entertainment career in 2000 as a model. She was later scouted by Hong Kong's Emperor Entertainment Group and partnered with Gillian Chung, also 42, to form the Cantopop group Twins.
Aside from her musical career, Choi is also recognized for her successful acting career in the Hong Kong film industry.
