Having vanished from the public eye for numerous years, Sun recently resurfaced as a guest on a television program hosted by actress Dee Hsu, according to HK01. At the age of 61, he said he has taken up work as a driver and has also started to explore DJing.

Even though he has faced numerous challenges, both mentally and financially, Sun is said to continue to present himself with the same polished appearance he was known for during his heyday.

Looking back on the time after his 2011 drug use arrest, Sun recounted experiencing "a month of living with death," which resulted in mental breakdowns and thoughts of suicide. Nevertheless, he found it within himself to self-motivate and recover without external help.

"When there are so many people relying on you, learning to self-motivate becomes a necessity," he remarked.

Sun entered the entertainment industry after his father suffered from an accident and lost his ability to work, thereby thrusting the family into financial difficulties.

Gaining acclaim for his performances in "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber," "Butterfly Lovers," "Hua Mulan," and the Taiwanese version of "The Return of the Condor Heroes," Sun earned a large female fanbase thanks to his looks.

Following his arrest for drug usage, Sun conducted a press conference in Taiwan where he confessed to his offenses. This controversy turned the once-acclaimed actor into an unwelcome figure in the entertainment industry, stripping him of opportunities.

Sun was also embroiled in a controversy regarding an extramarital affair in 2005.
