Kick-off series of the ITSI project in Ho Chi Minh City from Sept. 16-18 signify major steps forward in U.S.-Vietnam cooperation in the semiconductor industry.

The Semiconductor ATP Workforce Accelerator ITSI Project Kick-off in Vietnam focuses on developing a skilled workforce and addressing key policy challenges within the Assembly-Test-Packaging (ATP) segment of the semiconductor industry.

This series of workshops brought together key stakeholders to explore Vietnam's potential contributions to the global landscape.

The event facilitated discussions among government agencies, academic institutions, donor organizations, and private-sector representatives, fostering a unified approach to strengthening the semiconductor ecosystem.

At the event, Fulbright University Vietnam presented findings from a study on Vietnam's semiconductor workforce. The report emphasized the importance of workforce development and professional training programs for Vietnam's advancement in this sector.

Representatives from Da Nang showcased their efforts in the Semiconductor Assembly, Testing, and Packaging Workforce Development Program under the framework of the International Technology Security and Innovation Fund (ITSI).

The presentation detailed the city's ongoing semiconductor initiatives, highlighting the need for additional support in workforce training and development, particularly in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), while seeking more collaboration opportunities for local businesses.

Under the auspices of the ITSI, created by the 2022 CHIPS Act, the United States will engage in a strategic partnership with Vietnam to substantially enhance the country's semiconductor ecosystem, regulatory framework, workforce, and infrastructure.

This collaboration is expected to not only bolster the capabilities of Vietnam's semiconductor sector but also provide reciprocal benefits to the U.S. industry.

Vietnam has been designated as one of eight strategic countries participating in this initiative, supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs.

The U.S. Department of State has awarded Arizona State University (ASU) $13.8 million to spearhead talent development and formulate public policy recommendations across these nations.
