Stocks hover around 1,200 points

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index fell 0.62% to 1,208.32 points Thursday.

The index closed 7.56 points lower after gaining 5.60 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 18% to VND16.74 trillion ($666 mllion).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers fell.

TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank dropped 4.4% and GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group decline by 2%.

SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation lost 2% and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail closed 1.9% lower.

Seven blue chips gained, led by GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas with a 2.9% increase.

The top gainers included GAS up 2.9%, MSN up 2.1%, VHM up 1.1%

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND1.17 trillion, mainly selling VJC of budget airline Vietjet and VHM of property giant Vinhomes.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.54%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.10%.
