The fare hike is only four cents per ride for seniors, students, people with disabilities and low-wage workers who have concession cards, The Straits Times reported.
The increase will apply only to passengers using debit, credit, or fare cards, with no changes for cash payments. The prices of monthly concession passes for buses and trains, as well as adult monthly travel passes, will also remain the same.
The public transport fare increase, amounting to 6% overall, was previously announced in September by the Public Transport Council as part of its annual fare review exercise, according to CNA.
The council said at the time that while the maximum allowable adjustment is 18.9%, it opted for a 6% increase instead to ease the burden on commuters amid ongoing concerns about the cost of living in Singapore.
Fares were raised by 7%, or 10-11 cents per trip for adults, last year.
