The Private Sector Development Committee has proposed that “green businesses” is established to help boost the recovery of companies that have imposed Covid-19 safety measures.

Truong Gia Binh, chairman of technology giant FPT and of the committee, said a green business is defined as a company in which all staff have been vaccinated and manufacturing is being carried out under strict social distancing measures.

These companies will deal with the Covid-19 disease like the seasonal flu so they can focus resources on manufacturing.

Green logistics businesses will receive priority in transport. Their trucks should have QR codes to confirm with authorities that drivers have been vaccinated.

Drivers will no longer have to show documents at checkpoints as they are currently doing.

The establishment of green companies would later lead to the creation of green tourism companies, green airlines and green farms.

But for such a model to work, the government needs to issue targets on the ratio of green businesses in a locality so it could prioritize vaccination.

A hotline should be set up to receive calls from any business that faces operation difficulties.

"This will lead to the creation of green zones in Vietnam that will help maintain manufacturing and increase faith among international partners."

The fourth Covid-19 wave has brought major challenges to Vietnamese businesses due to social distancing orders being imposed in many cities and provinces.

By the end of July, the total amount of tax debt rose nearly 23 percent from the end of last year to over VND116.8 trillion ($5 billion).

Vietnam has recorded over 211,500 Covid-19 cases since the end of April.
