Businessman Tran Duy Minh Dat and singer Ong Cao Thang, heirs to Duy Tan and Tan Hiep Hung Plastics respectively, are prominent figures among Vietnam’s plastics industry heirs.
Dat, 34, is the son of the 65-year-old Tran Duy Hy, Chairman and CEO of Duy Tan Plastics Manufacturing Corporation, which was founded by Hy and specializes in high-quality household, packaging, and industrial plastics.In 2021, Duy Tan Plastics joined Thailand’s SCG Packaging (SCGP) following the sale of 70% of its shares to the Thai conglomerate.  Presently, it operates five factories, distributing products nationwide and exporting to more than 60 countries.Academically, Dat is highly qualified, with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from the University of California. He started at his family’s company as a business analyst, rapidly advancing to COO of a branch and assistant to the general director.He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Family Business Club under the Young Businesspeople Association of Ho Chi Minh City, where he is known for his active engagement.
