Thailand’s largest industrial estate developer WHA Group has proposed to develop an industrial and residential complex in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

The province has earmarked 4,200 hectares in Chau Duc District for industrial development and the WHA wants to develop 1,200 hectares, chairwoman and managing director Jareeporn Jarukornsakul told provincial authorities at a recent meeting.

This will be the second-largest industrial project behind Chau Duc Industrial Park, which spans 1,500 hectares.

Chairman of the province Nguyen Van Tho said that the province will create favorable conditions for the company.

WHA has been present in Vietnam since 2017, with its first 1,900-hectare industrial park established in Nghe An Province.

It has been expanding to new localities, including Thanh Hoa and Quang Ninh.

It plans to invest at least $1 billion in the next five years in Vietnam’s industrial parks, which will in turn attract projects worth over $5 billion.
