Twenty-year Military Bank (MB) veteran Pham Nhu Anh was appointed its new general director on Thursday.

Anh, 43, was assigned as deputy general director in charge of the executive board on April 12, assuming the powers and duties of the general director, after his predecessor Luu Trung Thai was elected chairman of the board of directors, leaving the general director position vacant for over a month.

Anh is holds a Master of Business Administration from Belgium’s UBI Institute of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Economics, majoring in Business Administration from the University of Economics and Business Administration at Da Nang University.

He has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial and banking field.

At MB, Anh has held several management positions such as branch director, division director, and he has been a member of the executive board.

From 2007-2017, he led leading branches in the Central and Southern regions.

In April 2017, he became head of the corporate customers division, and three years later he became a member of the executive board, managing business operations in the south and MB’s corporate customers division.

All divisions under his leadership saw rapid but safe 2-5-fold growth over the past three years.

In Q1 this year, MB reported a consolidated pre-tax profit of over VND6.5 trillion ($277 million), a 10% increase year on year. Credit income grew by 22% to VND10.2 trillion, however non-credit operations like services, trading and investment securities, foreign exchange, and interest were worse over the same period last year.
