Nguyen Ngoc Trong, former chairman of private airline Bamboo Airways, has been appointed the deputy CEO of property developer FLC Group.

Trong took over the position Thursday, according to a board decision.

The 68-year-old holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the Aviation University in the former Soviet Union.

He received his management training in the U.S., France, Switzerland, Australia, and Ireland. He had held leadership positions at state-owned carrier Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company and Vietnam Air Petrol Company, among others.

Trong participated in the establishment of Bamboo Airways from the early stage and was appointed the airline's first deputy CEO in 2018.

He served as the airline’s chairman between August 2022 and mid-2023. He now remains a member of the board.

After several top executives were arrested in 2022 for stock manipulation, FLC in 2023 sold its shares in Bamboo Airways to a new group of investors. The airline is still in its restructuring process with six aircraft.

FLC itself is also restructuring by resolving financial issues while completing ongoing resort and hotel projects.

It targets a revenue of VND1.2 trillion (US$47 million) from property development this year.
