Elon Musk projected to be world’s first trillionaire by 2027: report

According to the Trillion Dollar Club’s 2024 report by Informa Connect Academy, American billionaire Elon Musk is poised to become the first trillionaire in the world by 2027.

The forecast is based on Musk’s annual wealth growth rate of 110%, per The Guardian. The 53-year-old driving force behind automotive company Tesla and social media platform X is currently the richest person globally, with an estimated fortune of US$251 billion as reported by the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.

The report also anticipates that Indian 62-year-old billionaire Gautam Adani, the founder of the Adani Group conglomerate, will achieve trillionaire status by 2028 if his wealth continues to grow at its current rate of 123%.

Other likely candidates for trillionaire status by 2028 include American billionaire Jensen Huang, the 63-year-old CEO of technology giant Nvidia, and Indonesian billionaire Prajogo Pangestu, the 80-year-old founder of the Barito Pacific Group active in the oil and gas sectors. Huang and Pangestu are currently ranked as the 18th and 44th richest persons worldwide, respectively.

Additionally, French billionaire Bernard Arnault of the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, 75, and American billionaire Mark Zuckerberg of technology giant Meta, 40, currently the third and fourth richest persons worldwide respectively, are expected to reach the trillion-dollar milestone by 2030.

Meanwhile, American billionaire Jeff Bezos, the 60-year-old CEO of e-commerce giant Amazon and currently the world’s second richest person with a fortune of US$200 billion, is predicted to not reach trillionaire status until 2036, according to CNBC.

American billionaires Larry Page, 51, and Sergey Brin, also 51, the founders of Google, are expected to achieve the same status within 12 years, with the potential for artificial intelligence to accelerate their wealth accumulation.
