The Japanese retail giant’s eighth mall in Vietnam will spread over 21,000 square meters and is expected to be completed by August 2025, and, like its earlier ones, will also offer dining and entertainment options besides shopping.
AEON executives said the company is entering its second phase of development, which involves accelerating expansion in Vietnam.
Nguyen Van Ut, chairman of the Long An People's Committee, said AEON MALL Tan An would foster development of the province's trade and services sector, create jobs and promote the consumption of local specialties.
Vietnam's retail market has recently seen new entrants and expansion by existing foreign players.
Last year South Korean retailer Lotte opened a shopping mall that cost over $600 million in Hanoi.
In April this year Takashimaya, another Japanese retail giant, announced plans to invest nearly $13 million to build a shopping center in Hanoi, its first in the city and second in Vietnam.
