Bill Gates was born in 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He co-founded Microsoft and served as CEO from 1975 to 2000. The firm is the second in the world to reach a US$4 trillion market cap, having crossed that milestone at the end of July, as reported by Bloomberg.
After stepping back from management, he devoted most of his time to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a charity focused on health, education and addressing global poverty. With a pledge to donate 99% of his wealth within the next 20 years, he is one of the world’s greatest philanthropists.
He is currently the 15th richest man with $117.9 billion in net worth as of Aug. 20.
In 2021, Gates divorced his wife, Melinda French Gates, after 27 years of marriage, though they continued to maintain a respectful relationship and co-manage their foundation. He is dating Paula Hurd, a businesswoman and philanthropist.
