Stars hip-hop dance to Vietnamese song on Chinese TV show

Joining the television show "Street Dance of China" as team captains, the three artists led their teams to compete against one another by dancing to Vietnamese singer Hoang Thuy Linh’s song as it was chosen to be the theme of the show’s second episode aired on Monday.

Calling the Vietnamese music piece "the brainwashing song," the show’s organizers hinted at how viral the song has been in China. Several dancers competing in the show said backstage that they knew "See Tinh" as a Vietnamese song viral on the internet as well.

Still, participants were confused with the announcement of the song at first, since the song has a cute and cheerful vibe, seemingly at odds with street dance.

In the end, Park’s team brought an energetic performance to the battle. Ding’s team presented a cheerful effort, while Wu’s team performed the song with breakdancing. The teams got 109, 105, and 83 points respectively, making Park’s team win.

Park’s winning performance was subsequently uploaded to his account on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, and had accumulated more than 500,000 likes and 200,000 comments after one day.

"See Tinh" is the second single from Hoang Thuy Linh’s fourth studio album "LINK," which was released in February 2022.

One of its remixed versions went viral in China after its release and had achieved over 800 million plays on Chinese music platforms.

Many Chinese singers have also covered the song.

"Street Dance of China" revolves around the development of street dance in the country. It has received much interest and attention from the public for its famous cast members.
