Vietnam defeat Malaysia 1-0 in extra time to enter SEA Games final

The only goal by Nguyen Tien Linh in extra time helped Vietnam claim victory over Malaysia in an intense SEA Games 31 semifinal.

    The time is up after an intense and tiring 120 minutes. Vietnam won 1-0 and will meet Thailand in the final of SEA Games 31 for the gold medal.

    Tien Linh almost scored another for Vietnam as he ran down to face keeper Ghani. Linh tried to lift it over the Malaysia keeper but couldn't fool him.

    From a freekick in the left flank by Hung Dung, the ball found Tien Linh's head as he jumped higher than any other player to break the tie for Vietnam.

    Linh took his shirt off for celebration and received a yellow.

    The team are only eight minutes away from the final!

    Phan Tuan Tai crossed to Nguyen Van Tung to get a header but it went across the bar. Vietnam also put Dung Quang Nho in for Le Van Do.

In the group stage, Vietnam topped group A with 10 points after four games and haven't conceded, while Malaysia finished second in group B, scoring nine and conceded six.
