Vietnam did not have an easy game with Nepal’s thick defense.
In the first half, the team barely created any relevant chance. There were not much space for Vietnam players to attack in the first 20 minutes with the multi-layered defense of Nepal.
In the second half, scoring chances started coming more when Vietnam changed their approach.
After Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy’s freekick hit the bar in the 51st minute, Vietnam found the opening goal two minutes later. The goalkeeper of Nepal could not catch a shot cleanly and captain Pham Hai Yen quickly tapped it in.
The first goal loaded off the pressure for Vietnam players and they attacked more to find the second. In the 64th minute, the lead was doubled when Duong Thi Van made a great long pass inside the box that found Bich Thuy for a powerful header to the far corner.
The remaining time saw Vietnam creating more scoring chances with little resistance from Nepal.
However, 2-0 was the final score.
Vietnam will meet Bangladesh in the next game on Monday.
