Argentina advanced to the final of 2022 World Cup with Messi’s goal and Alvarez’s double against Croatia.

Two goals by striker Julian Alvarez and a Lionel Messi penalty gave Argentina a 3-0 victory over 2018 runners-up Croatia and sent them into the final.

Messi put Argentina ahead in the 34th minute with a penalty after goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic tripped Alvarez.

Alvarez sprinted 50 m and took advantage of two rebounds as defenders tried to tackle him, to score the second five minutes later.

Croatia, who came back to beat Japan and Brazil on penalties in the last two rounds, tried to hit back in the second half with multiple reinforcements but they failed to crack a determined Argentina defense.

Messi, in a brilliant moment, drove the ball down the right flank, past Croatia’s best defender Josko Gvardiol before passing in for Alvarez to finish in the 69th minute and it’s game set match.
