Post-typhoon Yagi chaos: 10-km traffic jam on Hanoi boulevard

The boulevard suffers a long tailback on the direction leading to Hanoi center on Monday morning.

Hanoi recorded heavy congestion on many roads from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. as tens of thousands of people traveled into the city center for work.

Some police officers walk onto the road to coordinate traffic.

Cars move by inches on Thang Long Boulevard which is designed for speed of 80-100 km per hour.

The boulevard, spanning 140 meters, is one of the largest roads in Hanoi.

Traffic is also slowed on Hoang Quoc Viet Street in Cau Giay District, as fallen trees still occupy part of the road on Monday morning.

People drive to work along fallen trees, which have been tidied up waiting to be moved away.

Some motorcyclists drive onto the sidewalks to avoid the heavy traffic.

Nguyen Trai Street in Thanh Xuan District saw a 3-km tailback on Monday morning.
