Cambodian athlete Bou Samnang finishing her run while crying in the rain, which was considered the most beautiful moment at the SEA Games 32, respresenting the spirit of never giving up.
The 20-year-old runner finished last in the women’s 5,000 m event with a time of 22 minutes 54.22. Samnang was determined to finish her run even though she was extremely tired.
Winning the gold medal in this event was Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Oanh, who completed her run in 17 minutes and 0.33 seconds.
Samnang’s effort has won the hearts of many people in Southeast Asia. Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen awarded her $10,000.
Another Cambodia runner, Chhun Bunthorn, cries after finishing first in the men’s 800 m. He became the first Cambodian runner to win a SEA Games gold medal.
Many Cambodian fans at the Morodok Techo took photos with Bunthorn and the organizers had to move the next event to 20 minutes later.
"If my parents were still alive, they would have been so happy," Bunthorn said.
Vietnamese runner Huynh Thi My Tien sheds a tear as she could not believe that she has won the gold medal in the women’s 100 m hurdles. She finished first in 13.50 seconds.

The 31-year-old swimmer said this was her last SEA Games. Quah attended her first SEA Games when she was 13 and since then has won a total of 34 gold medals.

In the semifinals, Indonesia defeated Vietnam 3-2 with a last-minute goal while playing with 10 men. After Vietnam were eliminated, defender Phan Tuan Tai (L) could not hold back the tears.
