Hotel reservation data from Booking.com shows the Central Highlands city of Da Lat is the most popular destination during the upcoming Tet holidays, followed by Nha Trang.

Da Lat is one of six localities in Lam Dong Province to get permission to set off fireworks on Lunar New Year's Eve on Feb. 9.

The displays will be at two venues: Yersin Park and the dock in Xuan Huong Lake.

The Booking.com data was based on people checking in between Feb. 8 and 14.

The central beach city of Nha Trang, known for its pleasant weather, long beaches and blue sea, was second in the list.

The city will have a 15-minute fireworks display on Feb. 10 to ring in the Year of the Dragon.

It has opened a Tet market with 106 food stalls selling regional dishes and cooking shows by famous chefs from across the country.

The central city of Da Nang ranked third.

Da Nang authorities will set off fireworks at three places on New Year's Eve and organize a number of cultural and other amusement activities.

A market showcasing traditional Vietnamese Tet was held at the Hoa Vang District administrative center from Jan. 26 to 29 with folk games and banh chung cooking in which visitors were allowed to participate.

The 2024 Spring Flower Festival will be held from Feb. 8 to 18 at the March 29 Park with arts programs and folk dance competitions.

Vung Tau was fourth on the list.

A spring flower festival will open in the southern beach city at Bai Truoc (Front Beach) Park on Feb. 6.

Fireworks will be let off in the Bai Truoc area and Bau Trung Lake on New Year's Eve.

Vietnam's biggest island Phu Quoc was fifth.

On Feb. 9 there will be a low-altitude fireworks display at a new urban area that was formerly Phu Quoc's old airport.

Other activities such as spring flower festivals, Tet markets and art programs will be held from now until Feb. 9.

The island last year suffered a tourism crisis with falling visitor numbers due to soaring airfares, expensive tourism services and various scams.

Recently there have been signs of a recovery with the return of foreign tourists.

HCMC ranked sixth on the list.

The city will have fireworks displays at 11 venues, five more than last year.

There will be high-altitude fireworks shows at two places, the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City and Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple in Cu Chi District.

Low-altitude fireworks will be let off from the Ben Nuoc Memorial Temple in Thu Duc City, Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11, Rung Sac Square in Can Gio District, Lang Le Bau Co Historical Site in Binh Chanh District, Go Vap Cultural Park in Go Vap District, and the Nga Ba Giong Historical Site in Hoc Mon District.

In addition, fireworks will be set off at the administrative center square of District 7, the Binh Tri Dong B neighborhood in Binh Tan District, and the cultural house in Cu Chi District.

The shows will be from midnight of Feb. 10, the first day of the Year of Dragon, and last 15 minutes.

The city will also have flower markets, a banh tet (glutinous rice cake) festival, a book street festival, and the usual Nguyen Hue Flower Street during the Tet holiday.

The beach resort town of Mui Ne on the south-central coast ranked seventh.

With ideal wind conditions between October and March and tropical weather all year round, Mui Ne is a place for beach activities such as kayaking, jet skiing and surfing.

Situated 12 km from Phan Thiet, the capital of Binh Thuan Province, the city also offers a hot air balloon ride over sand dunes.

Phan Thiet will hold fireworks shows at five venues on the eve.

The capital Hanoi ranked eighth.

This year Hanoi will set off fireworks at 32 places including two in Hoan Kiem District.

This will be the second year when there will be fireworks in all districts.

Sa Pa, located at an altitude of over 1,500 meters above sea level in the northwestern mountains, was ninth on the list.

The winter in Sa Pa lasts from December to February, when temperatures can plunge below zero and the landscape takes on a completely different look and there is the chance of seeing snow and ice on mountain peaks.

During winter, the town is covered in white snow, attracting those who want a chill hike up Mount Fansipan or Ham Rong Mountain.

Lao Cai, home to Sa Pa, will set off fireworks at five venues.

Hoi An, which topped the list of most favored destinations during the New Year holiday, rounded off the list.

The old city will have low-altitude fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve.
