Rescue operations have been intensified as heavy rains left by typhoon Yagi triggers severe flooding and landslides across northern localities, leaving many areas devastated and prompting urgent measures to protect affected communities.

During a severe flood in Yen Bai Province caused by typhoon Yagi, three men battled for nearly two hours in the middle of Monday night to rescue Nguyen Thi Hang and her daughter, Nguyen Thuy Linh, who were trapped on the second floor of their house in Minh Tan Ward of Yen Bai City.

Using ropes and life buoys, they managed to reach and bring the two to safety, despite the darkness, rising floodwaters over three meters high, and strong currents.
