Salted coffee is made from coffee, salt, cream, and condensed milk. Many young people love this drink because of its unique flavor.
On average, a Vietnamese adult consumes 9.4 g of salt a day. This is almost twice the maximum amount of salt an average adult should consume on a day, as recommended by the World Health Organization, which is 5 g. That means you likely take in more salt than the recommended amount if you drink salted coffee.

Consuming more salt than needed is the main cause of high blood pressure, strokes, and heart attacks. It may also increase the risk of gastric cancer, kidney failure, osteoporosis, among other disorders.
Hence, it is not recommended to drink salted coffee on a daily basis. If you want to have a sip of the drink, you should reduce the amount of salt in other dishes you take in throughout the day. You should not have it before bedtime either to avoid insomnia.
