According to 8days, Lo opened up about his financial struggles in a recent meeting with TVB executives, recalling an instance when he was booked to film a drama, only to find that his role had been cut due to script revisions, leaving him without work despite being on standby.
"I hope to receive fair and proper treatment," Lo said. "I understand that every company faces tough times, but I still have rent to pay and need to live a normal life. A full-time dishwasher might earn more than I do."
Lo also urged TVB to value its veteran actors more.
"Once they leave, they’re gone. If you don’t treasure them, there will be none left," he warned.
He pointed out the oddity of younger actors being cast in elderly roles, asking: "Why not just cast older artists instead?"
Despite his frustrations, Lo, 67, has no plans to leave TVB, believing that starting over with a new company would be too difficult at his age. He revealed that he is currently in talks to renew his contract with TVB.
Lo made his screen debut in the 1980 TVB drama "Shanghai Bund," where he starred alongside Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat. His notable works include "Detective Investigation Files II," "Gods of Honor," "Wong Fei Hung: Master of Kung Fu," "Forensic Heroes," and "Legend of the Demigods."
