Does eating raw eggs help enhance sexual health?

I've heard that eating raw eggs or eggs soaked in honey will help enhance my husband's sexual health. Dear doctor, what do you think about this? (Minh, 35, Hanoi)

Answer:

Among the many beneficial nutrients included in chicken eggs are protein, lipids, calcium, vitamins A, B, C, glucid, iron, and beta-carotene.

Eggs from chickens, however, do not help with sexual health; they merely supply nutrition.

When eating raw eggs, you should also be mindful of food hygiene and safety concerns. Raw eggs may contain Salmonella, a harmful bacteria in egg shells. And ones that are not well preserved may have bacterial contamination and lead to food poisoning.

Raw eggs shouldn't be consumed by people over 65, those with weakened immune systems, diabetes, HIV, or melanoma.

Men should not consume excessive amounts of eggs because they are heavy in protein and cholesterol. More specifically, consuming three egg yolks per week or more than two egg yolks per day raises the risk of obesity, gout, and a host of other illnesses.

Don't eat too many eggs if you have high blood pressure, fatty blood, obesity, or cardiovascular disease.

Moreover, cooked egg protein is easier to digest than raw egg protein. You might not be able to fully digest the protein from raw eggs, and you are more likely to experience bloating and gas.

Instead of eating too many eggs, men should eat more onions, bean sprouts, almonds, and seafood such as shrimp, crab, oysters, and squid.

It's recommended that people maintain a healthy lifestyle, reduce alcohol consumption, exercise regularly, and limit stress.

Spend 15 to 30 minutes each day working out, relaxing, and resting. Men should be checked at specialized medical facilities for proper treatment if they have problems that influence their sex life and fertility.
