Caterina Di Fuccia opened Vietnamese designer Hoang Hai’s show in Venice, alongside Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie in Vietnamese traditional costume.

The show took place on Friday at a hotel in Venice, Italy, with over 150 guests attending.

The Italian beauty queen donned an ao dai made from velvet, with embroidered patterns of Hanoi’s iconic Turtle Tower and Sword Lake, known as Thap Rua and Hoan Kiem Lake, respectively.

Di Fuccia said she was excited as it was the first time she walked in an ao dai. She gave her measurements to Hai several months ago and attended the fitting session one day before the show.

H’Hen Nie said Di Fuccia was nervous at first, but after hitting the runway, she became more confident. After the show, the two beauty queens took photos together and visited different tourist attractions in Italy.

Hai’s collection was inspired by Vietnamese and Italian tourist attractions and sceneries. It took him six months to complete the collection. The majority of the collection’s designs were made from velvet and brocade, with handmade embroideries as their highlights.

Hai decided to organize his show in Venice because of the dreamy and classic vibe of the city. He said the show was even more meaningful as it took place during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Italy.

Hai, 35, is well-known for his gown designs and is the favorite designer of many Vietnamese singers, actresses, and models.

He participated in the Milan Fashion Week last year.
