The rumor originated from a Daily Mail article published in August 2019, which reported about the lawsuit involving Chinh Chu and Calvin Klein model Simona Andrejic.

In this article, reporter Bridie Pearson-Jones wrote: "His ex-wife, Ha Phuong, is a prominent Vietnamese actress and singer who rose to fame when her song "Hoa Cau Vuon Trau" (Areca Nut Flowers and Gardens of Piper Betle Trees) was played during halftime at the 1994 World Cup."

As claimed by Pearson-Jones, Chinh Chu was "a divorced father of two" who was "dating a Russian model."

A representative of Ha Phuong on Thursday denied the singer is divorced.

"This is an ungrounded rumor fabricated for clickbait," the representative told NgoiSao. "She is still happily living with her husband."

Phuong, 51, is a folk ballad singer. She was born into a family with rich musical tradition, and is the sister of veteran folk singer Cam Ly and pop singer Minh Tuyet.

Chinh Chu, is an American businessman of Vietnamese-heritage whose company is active in finance and technology. In 2019, The Richest estimated his net worth to be around $1.1 billion.
